The City of Dawson Creek invites applications from qualified Water Treatment Plant Operators with Level II (or higher) certification for a full time permanent position.  Under the general supervision of the Director of Infrastructure, Water & Environmental Manager, or designate, this position performs a variety of duties related to the collection, treatment, and distribution of water and wastewater.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Grade 12 diploma, preferably with chemistry and algebra
Level II or higher Water Treatment Operator certification
Level II or higher Waste Water Treatment and Collection certification
Level II or higher Water Distribution Operator certification
Chlorine handler’s course certification
Cross Connection control certification
Valid driver’s license
Minimum one year experience with water and wastewater treatment and distribution.

Consideration may be given to candidates who possess either EOCP Water or Waste Water EOCP certification and who demonstrate progression toward attaining additional certification. Preference will be given to candidates with both certifications. The successful applicant will have the ability to perform all duties in a safe manner and the ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members.  Physical agility, the ability to complete duties requiring physical effort and a proven ability to provide excellent service to the public are also required.
