Water Resources Specialist
(Competition 15-83)

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Water Resources Specialist.  Under the general direction of the Manager of Water Resources, the incumbent manages design and construction projects related to the improvement of water supply infrastructure and the City’s network of dams. Work includes pre-designs, designs, budgets, technical reports and tender preparation, contract administration, project cost control and project management for large capital projects to ensure that the water supply system is expanded, maintained and operated in a sustainable manner.

Applicants must have a diploma in technology from a recognized college or technical institute in civil or mechanical engineering with additional specialty training in major capital infrastructure and project management.  A minimum of six (6) years’ related experience in the planning, design, project management and construction of municipal water supply systems, including at least two years project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  Applicants must be eligible for or members of the Applied Science Technologist and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC), as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) and possess a valid Class 5 British Columbia Drivers License.

This is a unionized position, $39.30 per hour – after Probation (Jan 2015 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included.
