Nature of the Position

The District of Sechelt has recently (2015) commissioned one of the most innovative and advanced wastewater treatment plants in Canada – The Sechelt Water Resource Centre. This is a state of the art, tertiary level, membrane filtration, wastewater treatment plant rated as a Class IV facility.

As the Wastewater Supervisor, you will manage the overall operation of the wastewater system – collection, treatment and future reclaimed water distribution – and the operational staff.

As the Chief Operator of the Sechelt Water Resource Centre, you will be responsible for the day to day operation of the wastewater treatment operations, ensuring the facility meets all it performance requirements safely and efficiently. You will be working closely with the technical support team from the technology supplier – Veolia Water Solutions Canada to refine the treatment operations.

Mandatory Requirements:

BC EOCP Wastewater Treatment Operator Level IV, or Level III – with the experience and ability to reach Level IV within one year, or inter-provincial equivalent
Minimum two years Direct Responsible Charge at a class III or higher wastewater treatment facility.
Minimum two years staff supervisory experience
Lives within 30 minutes driving time of the Sechelt Water Resource Center.

Optional and desirable:

BC EOCP certification in wastewater collection, or inter-provincial equivalent
BC EOCP certification in water distribution, or inter-provincial equivalent
Post-secondary education in water and/or wastewater technology

This is a unionized position within the BCGEU and is open to both male and female applicants. Salary for the position is set at Grid Level 14, $35.11 – $39.01 per hour.
