Student Engineering Technician – District of Saanich – Saanich, BC

The Engineering Department is seeking an enthusiastic Student Engineering Technician in the Transportation Division to assist in a variety of engineering duties.  The primary work involves the compilation/updating of accident data into an annual report format. Other work may include GIS analysis or data gathering, field observations and briefs, preparation of base plans for internal design projects, drafting modifications to existing design drawings, basic engineering calculations and other varied tasks within engineering in general. The incumbent will require personal communication skills to deal with complainants and good research skills with mapping an asset, in particular ArcGIS programs. Requirements include completion of one year post secondary education; enrolment in a full time post secondary education program is mandatory; valid B.C. Driver’s Licence; physically fit to perform field duties; and one month work experience.  Preference will be given for those enrolled in an Engineering Program at a University or Technical Institution.
