Brief Description:
Reporting to the President and the Director of Lean Manufacturing, the Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for verifying PPAP samples, participating in continuous improvement plans, and supporting Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing projects. They liaise with our customers on quality issues and complaints, and is responsible for continuous improvement projects by using six sigma DMAIC and 8 discipline problem solving methodology. They have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and are able to work effectively independently or in a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Verifying PPAP samples and preparing corresponding documentation for submission to the customers.
Corresponding with Asian operations on quality related matters via online, email, telephone, and in-person.
Verifying that finished goods satisfy customer requirements.
Attend customer facilities to review non-conforming material and assist in problem solving, implementation of preventative and corrective actions, and continuous improvement plans.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: minimum completion of grade 12, post-secondary education preferred.
Minimum 5 years working experience with 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing facility. Five to ten years of related quality inspection experience preferred.
Practical knowledge in reading, analyzing, and interpreting blueprints and geometric dimensioning tolerances.
Practical knowledge of APQP, PPAPs, 8D, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, and Process Flow Diagram, with an understanding in continuous improvement methods and opportunities.
Able to multi-task with the ability to use all types of inspection measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, block gauges, etc.
High level of organizational skills, detail oriented, and analytical.
Must possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with customers and multiple-disciplinary teams.
Computer knowledge and skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
An energetic, diligent work ethic and able to work with little supervision.
Able to travel within Canada, the USA, and internationally, as required.
Must have valid driver’s licence.
