Your role:
The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the process and products produced and stored in the Cornwallis facility.
Accountabilities
Testing of final liquid and dry products
Sampling of liquid products for microbial testing
Maintenance of Retained Sample Storage
Product Release (includes scanning of pending classed product to inventory
Maintaining the checks and managing the Accelerated Shelf-life sampling and testing
Maintaining a Long Term Shelf-life sampling and testing program
Complete warehouse checks including Product Packaging, Seal Checks & Weight Confirmations
Regular checks of production test equipment (pH meters, pH controllers, moisture balance, bench-top centrifuge, etc.)
Investigation and/or Calibration of production test equipment
Testing of raw material (seaweed) for solids levels, holdfasts and fruiting
Process checks including monitoring Process Liquid Solids as sampled from production
Conduct directed product investigations (complaint or process related)
Conduct procedural audits of specified production areas
Conducting regular BOD testing of plant effluent
Arranging the testing of products through external laboratories (Bioassay Samples to R&D, Fertilizer Analysis, Heavy Metal Analysis, Microbial Analysis, etc.) both on a regular basis and as required for Certificates of Analysis
Completion of Specialty Testing (Total Organic Carbon & Salinity)
Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, Environmental Management and the Progressive Excellence Program by displaying the appropriate behaviors and leadership towards meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.
Qualifications/Abilities:
A post-secondary degree in science or related field or a combination of education and related experience
Knowledge of Chemistry and Standard Laboratory Techniques would be an asset
Experience in an industry environment would be an asset
Must be proficient with MS Office programs
