Project Technician – Regional District of Okanagan – Similkameen

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Project Technician to join our team.

Reporting to the Community Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating a variety of technical and construction based projects and initiatives in support of the rural communities and the organization’s strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
2 year diploma in project management, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience in construction management, landscape design and irrigation design.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related position.
Knowledge of the BC Building Code and Master Municipal Construction Documents and standard practices relative to all aspects of Community Services facilities.
Knowledge of construction surveying, drafting, and design techniques and parks construction specifications and methods.
Ability to produce, read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of government legislation and regulations such as the Local Government Act.
Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and AutoCAD.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Committees and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to work on a number of concurrent tasks with deadline pressures.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and integrity.
Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends.
Valid B.C. Driver’s License.

This regular, full-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $32.02, Paygrade 6, plus an attractive fringe benefits package.
