The Opportunity to Learn and Grow
With this opportunity, we are looking for someone to join our Fraser Valley team in our Surrey office. In this role, you will assist in the planning, design, and construction phases of several projects. You will be given as much freedom and responsibilities as you demonstrate you are able to handle. In addition to the learning and project experience you will receive, you can expect to be responsible for the following:
Leading design and developing workable solutions related to the implementation of engineering work specifically in regards to water distribution, wastewater collection, drainage, road design, and general municipal engineering.
Providing accurate and timely input on technical reports, plans, studies, proposals, and oral presentations as required.
Preparing cost estimates and contract documents.
Proactively and professionally communicating with contractors, co-workers, clients, and the general public.
About You
The right candidate for this opportunity will have a civil engineering degree with four to six years of relevant post-graduate experience and be registered as a P.Eng. with APEGBC. In addition, the following attributes would be considered a great benefit to this role:
You are able to demonstrate progressive project experience in design.
Lead preliminary and detailed engineering design for assignments including municipal utilities, drainage, site development, roads, and highways.
Act as engineer of record or project director for projects involving design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, schedules and tender documents.
Coordinate and participate in liaison with private and public sector clients, government approval agencies, utility companies and key stakeholders.
Direct, coordinate and expedite activities of civil design team to further attainment of project objectives.
Review activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine civil department progress toward stated objectives.
Interface with clients, demonstrate firm’s capabilities, determine clients’ needs and prepare proposals based on estimated work-hours and firm’s schedule of fees.
Assign junior and intermediate personnel to various projects and monitor their progress.
Coordinate with project managers and various discipline engineers and ensures consistency in execution of civil design activities to assure that client’s work is completed on time, on budget and within the quality standards of the firm.
Guide and mentor junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
You are able to demonstrated progressive experience in construction of municipal infrastructure.
Previous experience in construction inspection is an asset.
Previous experience in contract administration is an asset.
