Project Engineer

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Development Services, this exempt full-time position performs a variety of managerial, supervisory and technical duties and is a key component in the ongoing protection, maintenance and construction of our municipal infrastructure. Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the research, design, review, budgeting and execution of development and capital projects related to municipal engineering services, including water, waste water, storm drainage, transportation, environmental protection, transit, flood protection, solid waste, fleet and facilities.

Your excellent interpersonal and leadership skills will be put to good use in your interactions with Council, staff, members of the public, developers, external agencies and other professionals. We will rely on your professional advice, including analysis of issues, options available, advantages and disadvantages and policy issues associated with alternative Council actions. You will be skilled at presenting your technical reports to Council and staff.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have graduated from university in Engineering (Civil preferred). You will also have broad related experience including 3 to 5 years progressive supervisory responsibility working for a local government or engineering firm with a project management focus. You must be Registered as (or eligible for registration as) a Professional Engineer in the province of British Columbia. A combination of significant experience and related education that allows the performance of the duties at a level to that of a P.Eng will be considered. You must have a Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia.
