Project Engineer

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a Project Engineer.  The Project Engineer assists in the management of the department which is responsible for engineering of municipal infrastructure projects for the City. The incumbent is responsible for organizing and directing personnel and resources in the design of municipal infrastructure to ensure projects are completed effectively and in accordance with good engineering practice and City of Nanaimo Standards. The Project Engineer professionally seals design drawings and performs role of Engineer of Record. Significant independent action and judgement is required in performing the functions of this position with only complex matters or matters of major impact or policy referred to the Manager of Engineering Projects.

Graduation from a recognized University with a B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering is required along with a minimum of eight (8) years’ related experience, including a minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience. Experience working in consulting civil engineering would be considered an asset.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may also
be considered.

The incumbent must have a membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (P. Eng.), a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
