Our Planning Division of the Development Services Department is seeking a dynamic individual to join our multi-disciplinary team as a full-time Planning Technician. In this position you will exercise considerable latitude of judgment in the application of daily routines, and the analysis and coordination of development proposals and interpretations of applicable land use and development issues.
You will process and analyse land use proposals in terms of their conformance to the OCP, bylaw requirements, local government objectives, and related provincial legislation. Preparation of reports recommending acceptance, modification or rejection of proposals and recommend appropriate terms and conditions for acceptable proposals. You will review, prepare, process and submit for approval, various applications including Development Permits, Development Variance Permits, liquor license proposals, ALR referrals and re-zoning and subdivision applications.
You will possess a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Community Planning or related field supplemented by urban/community planning courses or a diploma and/or certificate in planning plus related work experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a municipal planning environment, or recognized equivalent of education and experience.
The hourly rate for this full-time CUPE position is $37.47 plus an excellent benefit package upon completion of probation. We also offer a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended hours for 9 days and 1 day off every two weeks).
