Full Time Temporary
6 Month Position (with the possibility of an extension)
This is a short-term assignment to cover a scheduled leave of absence over a 6-month period starting in November 2015. Reporting to the Director of Planning, the Auxiliary Planning Technician will be responsible for work related to the municipal planning program including the review and processing of development applications, secondary suite applications, sign permit applications, business license applications and other various assignments. This is a position which involves non-registered professional-level duties, independence and judgement, and requires land use planning experience of moderate complexity and variety. The incumbent is expected to be timely, responsive and solution-oriented when dealing with all development matters.

Qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to:

A undergraduate degree in planning, geography or environmental studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Minimum of 4 years of land use planning experience (preferably in a BC municipal setting);
Training and/or experience in the use of recognized office computer software; and
Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5.

This is an auxiliary, full-time (35h/w) temporary position offering an hourly wage of $35.34 and 13% of wages in lieu of benefits (2015 rates). Beginning in January 2016, the hourly wage will increase to $36.05 and 14% in lieu of benefits.
