Responsibilities:
Assist customers in understanding and completing the application process for the subdivision and development of land.
Support and coordinate the processing and review of applications with the Subdivision and Development Approving Authorities.
Review and process requests for compliance certificates in accordance with municipal regulations and provincial legislation.
Conduct land file research and site investigations regarding enforcement of the Land Use Bylaw.
Conduct and assemble background research and provide technical support for the preparation of statutory and regulatory documents, and assist in the composition of planning and development reports, policies, processes and any special projects as required by the department.
Responsible for compilation of meeting agendas and minutes including but not limited to the Municipal Planning commission, internal meetings and external meeting with customers and members of the development industry as required.
Develop and manage information and department records using the corporate software.
Develop and maintain databases and mapping projects.
Provide civic addressing to landowners
Follow the Sturgeon County Health & Safety Management System guidelines and adhere to the Workers’ Responsibilities and Accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Safety Management System.
Qualifications:
The incumbent will have a minimum of a 2 year post-secondary qualification in Land Use Planning, Geography or related discipline. Completion of the University of Alberta’s ALUP Program and a minimum of 2 years related experience may also be considered.
Must have strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Products and a general knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Esite, AutoCAD and ARCGIS fundamentals.
Previous municipal experience is considered an asset.
Strong understanding of Community and Land Use Planning.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to diffuse difficult situations.
Flexibility to adapt to a demanding environment and maintain customer service standards.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
