The Parks Services Department is seeking a Parks Planning and Development Technologist to provide assistance in the acquisition, planning, design and preparation of development plans for parks and recreation facilities in the Regional District of Central Okanagan. Reporting to the Manager of Park Planning, Capital Projects & Visitor Services this position participates in community consultation processes, completes park site surveys, presents management plans, administers construction contracts, as well as supervises various park projects.
Requirements:
Diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or a related site planning discipline;
Demonstrated training in Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
Six months related experience in park and site planning and design;
Demonstrated ability and skills in contract management;
Knowledge of the BC Local Government Act;
Ability to complete site surveys and designs;
Excellent computer skills using MS Office;
Ability and skills in the use of GIS and CAD software (ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Vectorworks);
Ability and skills in the use of Inventory/Survey grade GPS technology;
Strong written, verbal and graphic communication skills;
Valid BC Driver’s License with record of safe driving.
