The Company:
Torngait Services Inc. (TSI) is a Limited Partnership between the Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC) and ATCO Structures and Logistics (ASL). TSI is currently providing site services personnel to the Voisey’s Bay Nickel Mine in Labrador.

Employment Opportunity:
TSI invites applications from qualified applicants to fill the full time management position of Operations Manager at TSI’s Head Office located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Manages projects and contracts according to schedules, specifications and budgets
Establishes work plan and staffing levels for each phase of a project/contract to ensure technical specifications, timings and client expectations are met
Monitors project/contract milestones, technical status, critical dates, potential risks & implements appropriate actions to resolve issues
Manages, negotiates and coordinates all project/contract amendments, change orders or revisions with clients & sub-contractors
Acts as the contact person for project/contract issues for clients, and TSI on-site superintendents
Develops and maintains productive working relationships with project/contract sponsors, clients, vendors and partners through the delivery of high quality work
Chairs kick-off meetings and progress meetings to communicate and coordinate individual roles and tasks, project expectations and resources and prepares project/contract reports
Supervises, administers and evaluates supervisory and department staff to implement corrective actions
Manages the Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety programs
Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Qualifications:
Applicants must have successfully completed a relevant Engineering Technical Diploma, together with Project Management Training and designation or related field experience, with at least 8 years direct experience and strong knowledge of standards and procedures in Infrastructure/Facilities Operations & Maintenance, Construction and Project Management, Contracts/Subcontracts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills, ability to work well with others in a variety of situations and conditions and able to resolve conflicts and provide effective solutions to both technical and non-technical problems. Health and Safety experience and designation would be a definite asset.
