The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is now accepting applications for a full-time permanent Operations Management Field Technician position based out of its Salmon Arm, BC offices.
Under the general direction of the Utilities Coordinator, the Operations Management Field Technician works closely with CSRD staff and must be familiar with all division operations in order to provide a high level of customer service to requests for information, advice and direction from internal and external clients in regards to water, sewer, street lighting, solid waste management, and other services.
This is a permanent, full time position and is subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement negotiated between the CSRD and CUPE Local 1908. The salary range for this position is $2,195.72 to $2,435.99 bi-weekly (2014 rates) with an attractive benefit package. Typical hours of work for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, some evening and weekend work may be required.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates for this position will:
have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with people in a professional manner.
have the ability to speak clearly with a friendly but professional manner.
exercise sound judgment and work independently and as part of a team.
be familiar with CSRD waste management systems, water systems and street lighting.
Possess computer skills in software such as CAD, Civil 3D and file management.
Possess geodetic survey skills.
have the ability to perform physical work in various elements including a variety of weather conditions.
have grade 12 supplemented with post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Environmental Studies or related field plus two (2) years relevant experience, preferably in a unionized, local government environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
