TM8 is helping them locate and secure a hands-on Mixed Signal IC Evaluation & Validation Engineer for their Design team.
Main Duties
Design and develop high-performance analog reference boards for our broad range of audio and mixed signal products.
Support existing and future customers with analysis of their designs, documentation, measurements and feedback.
Perform detailed analysis and measurement of new semiconductor chips, using a wide range of measurement tools, lab equipment, computer software and technical skills.
Design and execute regression and functional tests to verify the operation of new silicon.
Work with other teams throughout the company to communicate status on new silicon, reference boards, documentation and other resources.
Employment Requirements
A Bachelors or Masters degree or in Electronic Engineering is required
Experience at a mixed signal semiconductor or audiophile product company with a proven record of shipping products to customers is preferred
5+ years of experience in PC board design with board and device level evaluation experience
Strong understanding of analog and digital design principles
Ability to create products that are designed for manufacturability and test
Ability to work and interact with a diverse team of Engineers
Strong familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies and soldering equipment
Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language
Specific Skills Required
Familiarity with the design, operation and test of DACs and ADCs, in particular those implemented using oversampling techniques.
Recognition of amplifier configurations at the block level: instant grasp of noise gain, signal gain, feedback configurations, etc.
Ability to design and read schematics of printed circuit board (PCB) designs.
Ability to layout and route a PCB design, keeping in mind principles such as ground loops, ground bounce, EMF, etc.
Ability to design an ultra-low noise power supply, and the understanding of why an ultra-low noise power supply is important when working with audio signals.
Understanding of audio measurement equipment, and the types of tests that can be performed with this variety of equipment.
Knowledge of the different types of digital and analog filters, such as digital FIR, digital IIR, analog IIR, Butterworth, Chebyshev, etc.
Understanding of different weighting functions, and their applicability to audio measurement (such as A-weighting).
Working knowledge of different audio transport formats (such as DSD and PCM) as well as audio storage formats (such as WAVE, FLAC, OGG).
Understanding of board level digital protocols such as I2C and I2S.
Ability to write simple firmware for PC board devices, such as an embedded microcomputer for configuring a reference design.
Familiarity with different version control systems such as SVN or GIT.
