Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Municipal Operations, the Manager, Utilities is responsible for managing the water utility and providing technical expertise and support for water, drainage, and sanitary infrastructure planning, design, construction, replacement and maintenance projects and program, including the development and execution of capital and operating budgets. You will also be responsible for the management of construction projects and consultants, overseeing and supporting the development of the inflow and infiltration program, liaising with Metro Vancouver on regional liquid waste programs, and for managing utility replacement projects. Your responsibilities will also include the supervision of trades and technical staff.
Your previous managerial experience and technical accomplishments demonstrate your proven ability to create and sustain shared commitment on key municipal engineering matters that will foster innovation. It is essential that you that you are able to develop and maintain positive relationships with the public, contractors, consultants industry stakeholders, external agencies, and internal departments.
Your qualifications include a university degree in Civil Engineering and registration or eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in BC supplemented by a minimum five years of supervisory, project management, and municipal sanitary/water/storm infrastructure design and construction management experience. In addition you bring experience in developing budgets, policies and procedures and the proven skills to manage and motivate staff, contractors and consultants.
