The Comox Valley Regional District is seeking a manager of building services to join our planning and development services branch on a full-time permanent basis. The planning and development services branch is responsible for matters relating to key interests of the planning and development services including building inspection, current planning, heritage conservation, long range planning, policy development and regional growth strategy.

The manager of building services is responsible for managing the provision of customer services for land use, building, and  water/wastewater services through an integrated approach in serving the needs of property owners. The position oversees the building permit and inspection functions, manages the resolution of unique, complex and precedent setting issues with stakeholders, and represents the regional district by providing testimony in court for inspection and permit decisions that result in legal action. The manager recommends the preparation of building services policies, bylaws and regulations to serve the needs of the regional district and meet the requirements of provincial building legislation, and acts as the ultimate authority on interpretation and application of the building code and regulations.
