Regular Full Time Position
The Parks Division is seeking an Irrigation Technician III to coordinate and perform irrigation work in support of turf, horticulture and urban forestry infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform and provide direction, training and guidance to other staff and work crews in the daily on-site work for all technical aspects of irrigation projects; work with contractors, consultants and other Departments to review designs and provide inspections to ensure irrigation installations meet established specifications in parks and streetscapes; and design and layout irrigation systems and specify materials based on industry standards.
Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; BC WWA certification in Cross Connection Control; Irrigation Industry Association of BC Certified Irrigation Technician Level 2; other irrigation industry related courses (auditing, electrical troubleshooting, design, scheduling, Maxicom controls and/or Electrical Field Safety Representative of Qualification, Class LO, Low Energy Systems); three years of progressive experience including providing direction to others in the irrigation field and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Consideration may be given to candidates who hold an equivalent combination of education and experience.
