Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and/or Public Services Director, the Heavy Duty/ Automotive Mechanic will carry out duties primarily associated with the maintenance and repair of the municipality’s fleet of automotive, light, and heavy duty equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of operation, maintenance and diagnostics of light and heavy duty equipment.
Minimum Grade 12 education or GED equivalent. Transcript must accompany resume.
Must have a Heavy Duty Mechanics certification. Automotive Mechanic certificates may be considered.
Must have work or personal experience that would demonstrate the ability to work independently and unsupervised, show self-motivation, and be able to demonstrate sound judgement and decision making abilities.
Must be willing and able to upgrade skills as necessary to meet the changing needs of the position.
Will be required to obtain and maintain a valid Class 3 Alberta Drivers License with air brake endorsement. Class 1 License is preferred.
The Heavy Duty Mechanic shall supply all tools required in the normal day to day operations of the position.
