Job Description:
The City of Cold Lake is seeking a qualified individual to fill the permanent, full-time position of GIS Coordinator for immediate employment with the Department of Infrastructure.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the GIS Coordinator provides professional work in the design, development, and maintenance of Geographic Information System graphics and mapping applications. The position is responsible for managing spatial and non-spatial data/information relevant to particular studies or analysis that provide technical assistance in the activities of demographics, zoning, and planning. The GIS Coordinator is also responsible for the development and production of GIS mapping products, including the design and implementation of digital and hard-copy maps, as well as on-going maintenance of GIS and asset management systems datasets such as addresses, roads, utilities, property information, and all other assets. The position also provides technical support and expertise to internal staff and the general public regarding day-to-day and ad hoc requests for GIS information and liaises with other departments, agencies and general public on technical matters related to GIS applications and products, ensuring quality of new or revised data.
The preferred qualifications for this position include a two year Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent and knowledge of civil, architectural or electronic engineering drawings, GPS surveys, geography, and municipal infrastructure. The successful candidate must be a GIS specialist, possess an in-depth knowledge of computer systems design and database design, have experience with Cityworks, and have the ability to perform heavy lifting. This position also requires a Criminal Record Check, along with a Class 5 Driver’s license.
