In response to a burgeoning population and shifting demographics, it allocated a capital budget of $110 million to expand its infrastructure, community, and social programs in 2008. More recently over $100 million is being spent on road infrastructure in 2010. The General Manager, Engineering & Regional Utilities will arrive at a pivotal period of time to oversee the growth and expansion activities of the municipality of Abbotsford as it establishes itself as one of Canada’s great mid-sized cities.
With the upcoming retirement of the incumbent, the City of Abbotsford is searching for a new General Manager, Engineering and Regional Utilities. Reporting to the City Manager, and part of the Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance (PDCM) of the engineering infrastructure, essential for quality of life in Abbotsford, and for the PDCM of the regional water and sewer infrastructure for Abbotsford and Mission. You will collaborate across all departments within the City and provide strategic advice and expertise to Council.
As the ideal candidate, you will have a demonstrated track record of success in a senior engineering leadership role within a progressive municipality, regional district or complex public sector organization. Alternatively, a senior management role in a municipality or regional district with work of comparable operational complexity. You bring a collaborative and innovative approach to problem solving. Key to your success will be the ability to form partnerships with key stakeholders, internal and external, to define and implement projects. Working in an integrated manner with other City departments is critical to success.
