(Permanent, Full-time)

Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available for a Fire Chief in the Community Services Division.  Reporting to the General Manager, Community Services, the Fire Chief is responsible for strategic leadership, administration and supervision of operations in the delivery of Fire Services and the coordination of emergency management and preparedness within Parkland County.  The Fire Chief directs Fire Services, and is responsible for the Deputy Fire Chiefs, fire service agreements and volunteer firefighters in the delivery of emergency response services within Parkland County.  This position is also responsible for firefighting services provided by agreements from the Town of Devon, the Town of Stony Plain, Yellowhead County and agreements for fire services provided to the Village of Wabamun, and the Summer Village of Seba Beach.  This position requires strong organizational management and supervisory skills, including exceptional interpersonal, business planning, leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications:

Degree in Emergency Service Administration, Business or other similar discipline.  A graduate degree in Emergency Service Administration, Business or other similar discipline would be considered an asset.
Ten (10) years of progressive fire department experience in a municipal fire department with at least five (5) years in a Chief Officer position.
Experience in strategic leadership, business unit management, supervision/management of staff and project management is required along with a demonstrated ability to work with volunteers and within flexible working hours.
Incident Command System 300 is required.  Incident Command System 400 and position specific training is an asset.
Certification as an Alberta Safety Codes Officer Level 2 Inspector and Level 2 Investigator is required.  Completion of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards 1001, 1002, 1021 and 1041 is desired.
Membership in a wide variety of fire service organizations, including the NFPA, Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, Alberta Fire Chief’s Association and the Fire Investigation Association of Alberta.
Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

Rate of Pay:

$122,367 – $152,962 per annum

Hours of Work:

7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
