The District of Taylor is inviting applicants to fill the position of Fire Chief.

Our thriving and welcoming community of approx. 1500 is located in the beautiful Peace River Valley where the Alaska Highway crosses the Peace River.  We are a resource municipality with an excellent tax base that supports recreation and leisure facilities that are second to none.  These facilities include our municipally owned Lone Wolf Golf Course (2014 top manicured golf course Northern BC), award winning 2 surface ice arena, 4 sheet curling rink, 25m seasonal swimming pool, 450 seat community hall, multitude of playgrounds, paved 4.5km Participaction trail, 400+ acre campground w/15km of walking trails, as well as snowmobile and ATV trails nearby. Our proximity to larger urban centers allows Taylor residents the luxury of a small town living without feeling isolated.

The Fire Chief reports to the CAO and is responsible and accountable for the administrative and technical work in planning, evaluating, organizing and directing the firefighting, fire rescue and fire prevention activities in accordance with Council’s policies, priorities and approved budgets.

Your team is a 22 member crew of trained and enthusiastic volunteer firefighters and (highway rescue) first responders with a wide range of experience, ages, and rank.

You are an integral part of the Management Team and the successful applicant will demonstrate strong leadership skills, be a visionary leader and results oriented. The candidate will require superior verbal and written communication skills.  The candidate also maintains effective working relationships with staff and members of the public.
