The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is seeking a dynamic leader to fill the position of Fire Chief to lead the Anarchist Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. The department is comprised of a Chief, Deputy Chief and approximately 15 to 18 volunteer firefighters dedicated to protecting the community of Anarchist Mountain.

As part of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, this position reports directly to the Community Services Manager and is supported by the Emergency Services Supervisor. As the leader of the Fire Department, responsibilities include administration, budgeting, training, pre-fire planning, department facilities planning, operations and maintenance. The Fire Chief would represent the Anarchist Mountain Volunteer Fire Department at Regional and Joint Fire Chiefs Committee meetings. This position may be required to act as a Local Assistant to the Fire Commissioner and respond to emergency operations center (EOC) activations as necessary.

The preferred candidate will possess the following:

Post-secondary education in Administration, Leadership or Fire Officer training;
Knowledge and training in BCERMS Incident Command System (minimum of ICS200);
A minimum of five (5) years with a fire department;
Progressive responsibility level within the fire service;
Previous experience as a fire department officer;
Completion of or participating in an NFPA recognized fire training program;
Completion of or enrolled in a recognized Fire Officer training program;
Knowledge of or willingness to learn fire department operational guidelines, policies, procedures, local bylaws, provincial codes, acts and regulations.
