The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine is accepting applicants for the position of Environmental Technician.

Responsibilities:

Manage landfill operation and maintenance
Administer maintenance contacts including related contractor invoicing
Landfill inspections and reporting
Environmental monitoring and reporting
Assist with preparation of annual budgets
Liaise with Ministry of Environment and other regulatory agencies
Liaise with Public Works Foreman and Solid Waste Coordinator to organize other landfill and transfer station related tasks as required
Make recommendations regarding landfill operations to the Public Works Manager
Prepare and make presentations to the Solid Waste Management Plan Monitoring Advisory Committee as required

The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Diploma in Environmental Sciences
Landfill Certification such as SWANA’s Manager of Landfill Operation and/or BC Qualified Landfill Operator
Wastewater Treatment Certification – Environmental Operator Certificate Program
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Effective oral and written communication skills
Valid class 5 BC Driver’s License
