Engineering Technologist / Engineering Technologist II – District of Summerland – Summerland, BC

The District of Summerland has an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Engineering Technician or Engineering Technician II.  Under the direction of the Manager of Works, this position will provide technical support and infrastructure capacity analysis, reviews design submissions, develops conceptual designs of engineering services, prepares technical reports, performs inspections of technical engineering projects, and assists in establishing policies, procedures, and strategies related to operational functions of the Works and Utilities Department.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, will have considerable experience with AutoCAD, GIS and related software, and will have thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, terminology, practices and techniques.

Required training and experience include:

Senior Secondary School education supplemented by a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recongnized Institue of Technology
Minimum two years related municipal engineering experience for an Engineering Technician or minimum seven years for Engineering Technician II
Eligibility for membership as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC
Valid BC Driver’s Licence – Class 5

This is a regular full-time Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) position with a bi-weekly salary range of $2,280.77 – $2,615.99 (depending on experience) and a competitive benefits package. A complete job description can be found on our website at  www.summerland.ca.
