Engineering Technician II – Newfoundland & Labrador Housing Corporation – Goose Bay

Applications are invited for the permanent position of Engineering Technician II in the Goose Bay office supporting the Labrador Region.

Duties: This position is accountable for advanced technical and administrative work in the planning, design, implementation and contract administration of maintenance, modernization, PHRP and Partnered Managed Housing projects in the Labrador Region, working in consultation with the Engineering Division.  Develops/reviews plans, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for tender packages; oversees work in progress to ensure adherence to project schedules, costs and applicable codes; prepares inspection reports, progress claims and makes recommendations on change orders; prepares technical reports and makes recommendations on building renovations and other projects; conducts research on new building products; and performs other related work.  Travel throughout the region is required.

Qualifications: Experience in design, construction and project management/administration related to residential construction work and site development including some experience in preparing estimates and condition reports; knowledge of building science principles, building codes, standards and cost estimating; graduation from high school supplemented by completion of a diploma in Civil, Architectural or Building Engineering Technology; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.  Eligibility for membership in the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologist of Newfoundland (AETTN) is also required.  The successful candidate must provide a recent Certificate of Conduct.

Salary: On the GS30 scale ($24.45 to $27.15) $44,499 to $49,413 per annum, based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.  In addition to salary a Labrador Allowance is paid. NL Housing offers a comprehensive benefits package, including pension, group insurance and annual leave.
