Engineering Development Technician
(Competition 15-62)

The City of Nanaimo is seeking an Engineering Development Technician.  The incumbent will review, interpret, and approve construction design related to public works, new developments and subdivisions; liaise with other internal and external departments and agencies; and will provide technical support in connection with other development related issues and departmental planning.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and have a diploma from a recognized technical institute in engineering as well as specialized courses related to civil engineering design.  A minimum of three (3) years’ related experience with considerable knowledge of municipal bylaws, construction procedures, subdivision, land development and municipal utility design and drafting practices is required.

Applicants must be a member, or be eligible for membership, with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (A.S.T.T.B.C.) as a Civil Technologist and possess a valid B.C. Driver’s Licence.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This is a unionized position.  $35.14 per hour – after Probation (Jan 2015 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included.
