The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for the position of Engineering Assistant II. This is a full time permanent position.

Under the direction of the Director of Development Services or his designate, the successful candidate assists with all stages of municipal infrastructure capital works; designs capital works using CAD software, surveys for design and layout of design, inspects installations to ensure grades, lines and materials are adhered to; responds to enquiries relating to infrastructure and public works operations; maintains records, service connection files for all municipal utilities; files, maintains, secures and prints all engineering drawings; and performs other related duties as required.

The successful candidate must have completed Grade 12 and a 2 year Civil Engineer Technologist Diploma program. A good working knowledge of C.A.D. and other computer programs used in municipal engineering, and experience in and understanding of infrastructure construction techniques and engineering principles is also required. The successful applicant must be willing to work weekends and overtime hours and have a valid Drivers’ License. Candidates must have the physical agility and ability to complete duties requiring physical effort and to perform all duties in a safe manner and must also demonstrate an ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members while following established procedures.
