Working under the direction of the Manager of Underground Services, the Engineering Assets Technician is primarily responsible for updating and maintaining the records of municipal infrastructure in GIS, AutoCAD or other computer format. The successful candidate will work in both a team environment and independently, particularly when developing and implementing new processes or doing analyses with departmental users. Requirements include Degree in Geography, Computer Science or related discipline with an emphasis on GIS; three years of experience in the field of GIS, with an emphasis on utilization of ESRI products; sound knowledge of GIS principles, standards, and methods especially for municipal infrastructure; proficient with ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of products including ArcGIS Desktop and Mobile technology; proficient with GIS data compilation, versioned editing and quality control; familiarity with civil engineering drawings; basic knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD and drafting principles; and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
