Due to a retirement the Comox Valley Regional District is seeking a full-time permanent Comox Valley emergency program coordinator to join our community services branch. Reporting to the general manager of the community services branch, the Comox Valley emergency program (CVEP) coordinator is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the regional Comox Valley emergency management program. The coordinator will work with each local government to maintain the emergency management capacity for each of the local authorities.

The coordinator’s key role involves handling the program’s operational requirements, bringing issues and recommendations requiring direction to the attention of the CVEP administration and policy committee, and liaises with emergency response agencies. The coordinator is required to be on-call 24/7 to respond to any level one or higher emergency and, if necessary, activate the emergency plan which includes opening an EOC within one hour. This position requires the ability to coordinate local authorities, First Nations, regional district and emergency response agencies to work towards established operational goals of the emergency management program.
