The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River is currently seeking a Director of Transportation & Infrastructure to progressively manage and coordinate all planning, construction, maintenance and repair of municipal roads and vertical infrastructure. This critical role will develop innovative ideas and approaches to improve transportation and vertical infrastructure to support alignment with the Municipality’s strategic goals. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and work as part of a team that makes recommendations on key strategic directions.
This role is intended to have a forward focus. The Director will participate in setting the future directions of the Municipal District by providing the CAO with strategies and recommendations with respect to core service levels, sustainability, construction initiatives, project management, new developments, and contract administration. The Director will be called upon to present briefs and recommendations to the CAO and to Council.
The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in Management, Administration, or Civil Engineering and have at least 10 years supervisory or management experience, preferably in a local government setting. Consideration may be given to candidates who have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a strong background in road construction practices, vertical infrastructure, and applicable provincial and federal legislation. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, public, and elected officials is essential.
