Job Description:

Reporting to the CAO, the Director of Operations shall be responsible for the planning, organization, direction and integration of the county’s public Works activities and functions. The Director of Operations will provide professional expertise to the County management in the Engineering of roads and road maintenance. Other responsibilities will include policy development, program planning, fascial management, administration, and operational direction of the County’s public work functions. The Director of Operations is responsible for accomplishing department objectives and goals within guidelines established by the County Council and CAO.

Requirements:

University degree in civil engineering or equivalent of five (5) years of experience in public works and utilities with an emphasis on management pf public works
Theory, principles, practices and techniques of public works, traffic engineering
Strong working knowledge of all applicable federal, provincial and local laws, codes and regulations governing the administration of public works and public utilities functions and activities
Strong understanding of the principals and practices of public administration, including budgeting, purchasing and the organization and functions of an elected county council
Ability to analyze complex engineering and maintenance issues and problems
Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and develop sound conclusions, recommendations and courses of action
Ability to present proposals and recommendations clearly and logically in public meetings
