The Town of Rocky Mountain House is seeking an energetic individual for the position of Director of Engineering and Operations. Reporting directly to the CAO, you will be participating as a member of the senior management team responsible for the leadership, planning, and coordination of the Town’s infrastructure and engineering services.
Key Functions include:
Working collaboratively with CAO and department heads in achieving Council goals and priorities and in conjunction with CAO, Council and department heads, assuming the lead with engineering and infrastructure trends and the potential impact on service levels.
Providing reports, information, and effective strategic advice to the CAO and Town Council.
Evaluating the needs of the various functional areas and formulating short and long term plans in all areas of responsibility including that of utilities, transportation, infrastructure and parks and sport fields.
Preparing and managing the approved operating budget for Engineering and Operations Department.
Developing department strategic plans in relation to Council’s Corporate Plan.
Liaising with government agencies and waste authority and assuming a leadership role in communications and negotiations with agencies, utilities, groups, and individuals on a wide variety of issues pertaining to public works and utilities.
Develops and implements performance measurement systems of department supervisors and staff engaged in the maintenance and operation of the Town’s public works, parks and sport fields, water distribution and wastewater collection system infrastructure.
Ensuring department staff assumes leadership responsibility in relation to the Town’s Health and Safety program and provides guidance as required.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in civil engineering or related field of study.
Minimum of 5 years municipal experience.
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver Operators License.
Competencies with computer software programs including Microsoft Office and GIS systems.
