Headquartered in Bedford, Nova Scotia, our renowned client – Clearwater Seafoods, a leading global seafood company is looking to hire a ?Director of Engineering? for their Global Supply Chain division. Clearwater Seafood harvests, processes and distributes fresh and frozen fish and shellfish. They operate their own fleet of vessels, as well as off-shore and on-shore processing facilities. Reporting to the President of the Global Supply Chain division, the Director of Engineering will provide tactical leadership, direction and support the capital expenditure programs as defined in the company?s 5 year strategic program. The director will be required to oversee the capital investment program for fleet and land based operations and especially the procurement of vessels, refits of vessels and major overhauls of the vessels, as well as development and implementation of manufacturing processes on the vessels and in the land based operations. The Director of Engineering will have to ensure the engineering team and other departments work together collaboratively and lead the process of capital expenditure approval. He/she will lead and direct the work of the engineering team and keep track of capital expenditures versus budget.
The Director of Engineering will work cohesively with R&D in fleet, Innovation, QA and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures. He/she will need to ensure all naval and manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times. The Director of Engineering will have to apply value stream engineering and Early Equipment management on each capital project to ensure efficiency. The incumbent will develop, maintain and be responsible for the autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance and early equipment maintenance pillars in the to be launched TPM program. With exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, the director will inspire, motivate and develop the team to reach their potential and achieve both individual and departmental goals.
You will have a Masters? university degree in engineering including Naval and Mechanical engineering. Utilities engineering background will be an asset. You will have a minimum of ten years? progressively responsible management experience. Experience with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, TPM and value stream engineering will be preferred.
