Where you will be working:
This full time, exempt position is with the fantastic City of Parksville on Vancouver Island’s sheltered east coast. Home to 12,500 residents, Parksville offers a high quality of life in a stunning natural environment, where you’ll walk on amazing sandy beaches, breathe in the salt-tinged ocean air, and have access to world-class biking and hiking trails. Located 37 km north of Nanaimo, Parksville is within easy reach of the mainland and the globe, via BC Ferry terminals and the Nanaimo airport.

The City employs 95 talented full time staff, who are committed to building and maintaining Parksville as the city of choice for current residents and future generations. The City works collaboratively to keep a clean, safe and friendly community, that is both economically viable and environmentally conscious.
What you will be working on:
As an important member of our senior leadership team, you will have excellent communication skills and will help facilitate the achievement of the City’s strategic and operational objectives. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), you will provide vision, leadership and operational support to the City’s Engineering and Technology Systems department as you:
Lead day to day municipal engineering services;
Oversee and provide project management support for infrastructure renewal capital projects; and
Ensure efficient and effective delivery of corporate information technology and GIS services.
What you bring to the table:
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible municipal experience, including personnel management in a unionized environment, and high-level experience in managing engineering functions in a local government environment.
Strong record of exceptional leadership.
Proven abilities to support, participate, and engage in senior leadership teams.
High level of skills to motivate, support and mentor staff.
Possession of a valid B.C. Drivers Licence and clean driving record (required).
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (preferred).
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (preferred).
Master’s Degree in Public or Business Administration (preferred).
Board of Examiners Certificate in Local Government Administration (asset).
What you can expect:
The City offers a competitive salary range ($120,000 – $137,000, depending on relevant experience and credentials); and a comprehensive benefits package including an earned day off program upon completion of probation.
