Development Planner
(Permanent, Full-time)
Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available for a Development Planner. Reporting to the Supervisor, Development Planning, the Development Planner is responsible to act as the Development Authority for the development permit process. This position provides support to the Supervisor, Development Planning which would include the development permit process; renders decisions on Development Permit applications; reviews building permit applications for compliance with the Land Use Bylaw and/or development permit approval; prepares Land Use Bylaw amendments; and enforces contraventions of the Land Use Bylaw as well as non-compliance with conditions of development permits. This position requires a good working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and the Subdivision and Development Regulation, along with strong writing, presentation, negotiation and organizational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Planning or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three (3) years’ experience in a municipal planning function.
Eligibility for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and Registered Professional Planner designation in the Alberta Professional Planners Institute is desired.
Interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with the general public and good analytical and problem solving skills.
Well-developed computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Possession of a valid Alberta Driver’s License and satisfactory driving is record is required.

Rate of Pay: $79,063 to $98,798 per annum
Hours of Work: 7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
