Development Engineer

The essential qualifications are a Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of five years related experience in subdivision design and approval, and municipal infrastructure associated with land development. Also, a member or eligible for full membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC is a requirement.

The successful candidate will report to the Development Manager/ Approving Officer and will have a board range of duties associated with multifaceted land use applications such as subdivision, OCP and zoning bylaw amendments, development permits and building permits. The candidate will work on all sizes of land development applications with a variety of local developers in the industry to support growth in industrial, commercial and residential sectors.

The Development Engineer will work in close collaboration with other departments, as well as key business and community stakeholders in land development. Responsibilities will include oversight of the review and processing of subdivision and strata applications and development engineering review for all other land use applications. As well, this position will provide technical and professional expertise and guidance to various technical groups, committees, developers, the public and Council.

We require a candidate who has good knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and will support their team’s continuous improvement, particularly in project management and customer service to meet the needs of the community.

This full-time position, 35 hours per week, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, offers an hourly rate of $40.03 along with an attractive benefit package and municipal pension plan.
