Consulting Mining Engineer – Emo – VISTA Training Canada

Overall Position Responsibility– Temporary Full-Time (approx. 500 hours ending in March, 2017 – with possible extension)

Responsible for the design and development of procedures and training methodologies for a start-up mining operation. Includes development of specialized procedures related to hands-on and Web-Based Training (WBT) or instructor-led training specifically targeted to the mining industry. Engages in design and development of specialized mining procedures as well as related training materials. This position encompasses creation, implementation and maintenance of operational procedures, personal safety, regulatory and environmental compliance and overall productivity as they apply to the operation of heavy equipment in the mining industry.

Primary Position Responsibilities
Works as a part of a mine development and training team and leads the efforts on individual development projects.
Works with the mine site Training Manager to develop project schedules and timelines of key milestone events and activities
Develops required course outlines and procedures based upon customer needs and project requirements, working with customer subject matter experts as required.
Conducts research concerning the instructional needs of company clients, as well as subject matter content and regulatory standards as applicable.
Confers with the clients’ key personnel as well as headquarters personnel to gather the required multi-media assets needed.
Serves as the subject matter expert to clients.
Assists with quality assurance for projects via verification of procedure of training program design, content and organization.
Reviews, analyzes and recommends changes as appropriate to existing procedures and training methodologies, with an eye toward consistency and usability.

Required skills and experience
Applicants must have:
mine operations experience related to mine procedures, training of operators for heavy equipment, such as electric and hydraulic mining shovels, haul trucks, hydraulic excavators, graders and dozers, and other equipment used in the mining industry.
Experience in analyzing, designing, developing and delivering WBT (Web-Based Training) programs and products relating to the operation of heavy mining equipment;
Experience with operational procedures, safety and environmental regulations, and productivity concerns, as they relate to the operation of heavy equipment.
Educational / Experience

Required:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Bachelors Degree – Mine Engineering or related topic of study
Masters Degree – Geosciences or related topic of study
Five (5) years of experience as a mine operations professional
Mine plant processing experience
Mine equipment operations management or training experience
Mine operations productivity planning experience
Mine industry experience in a country outside of North America

Desired:
MBA or equivalent Graduate Level Management Degree

Compensation
CAD$50-60/hr – based on experience
