The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is accepting applications for the following position:

Conservation Areas Maintenance Technician – Summer Position

(approximately May – August 2016) *

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) is currently seeking applicants for the position of a Conservation Areas Maintenance Technician.

Housed at the Ganaraska Forest Centre in Campbellcroft, Ontario, this is an excellent hands-on opportunity for post-secondary students pursuing Environmental Studies, Equipment Operations, or Landscaping or Horticultural Studies.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and enhance the various gardens and grounds at the Conservation Authority’s 11 different properties; including weeding, pruning, planting, garbage removal, grass mowing, and trimming.
General maintenance to equipment, buildings, trails, signs, and dams.
Ensure safe public access and use of conservation areas.
Other general maintenance duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be at least 18 years of age and returning to school in the fall.
They must have excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills.
Preference will be given to applicants with proven experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
The successful applicant must be able to adapt to an environment of change and work well independently, as well as in a team environment.
Applicants should have certification in safe equipment operation and maintenance.
Applicants must possess a valid Province of Ontario driver’s licence and be able to provide a clear, criminal reference check.
