The Building Systems Manager is responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance of the heating, cooling and ventilation systems of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in accordance with ASME code. This involves additional direction of operations of essential equipment including, but not limited to, emergency power and fire protection systems in order to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for all occupants by the most cost-effective means of operation with limited possibility of unplanned shut-downs of equipment. This is achieved through preventive maintenance and regular inspection/servicing of system critical equipment.
The QEH was established in 1982 and is a 243 bed hospital. It is PEI’s largest multi-service acute care facility and is located in the province’s capital city, Charlottetown. The Building Systems Manager also supervises the monitoring and operation of a number of external facilities within Health PEI.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid 2nd Class Power Engineer license issued and recognized by the Board of Examiners in accordance with the Power Engineers Act.
Sound knowledge and extensive experience with complex Building Automation Systems machinery and computer networks (ie. HVAC, Fire Generators, Chillers [steam & electric]), including the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Considerable supervisory experience.
Knowledge of various acts and regulations including Power Engineers Act and Regulations, Pressure Vessel Codes, Fire Safety & Building Safety Codes, Occupational Health & Safety, etc.
Excellent organizational, communication and conflict resolution skills;
Must have the ability to function effectively in a high stress 24/7 environment;
Must have proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal, problem solving, facilitation and collaboration skills;
Must have the ability to work as a team member on various committees;
Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to beginning employment.
Salary: $25.74 – $32.18 per hour (Level 16) Plus pension and benefits
Bi Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi weekly / Monday Friday, 8 am 4 pm
