POSITION: Building Inspector/Planning Technician
HOURLY RATE: $36.1836/hour or $5,487.84 per month
Start Step – Grade 15, CUPE Local 2090 (Inside Workers)
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hour work week
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Grade 12 Diploma or GED (must provide proof)
Building Inspector Level 2 Diploma (must provide proof)
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence (must provide proof)
Plan Checker
EXPERIENCE: 3 years municipal building and/or municipal construction inspection experience
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Demonstrated excellent report writing skills
Proven public relations skills
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of current BC Building and Plumbing Codes
Working knowledge of municipal bylaws

DUTIES: The Building Inspector/Construction Inspector is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the City’s Building, Plumbing and Zoning Bylaws; and relevant permits, applications and inspections.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
LICENCES OR CERTIFICATES: Certification in the BC Building Inspectors’ Association
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in plumbing and construction
