Jewer Bailey Consultants Ltd. is 100% locally owned and operated, multi-discipline engineering company, offering structural, mechanical, electrical design and project management services to the residential, commercial, institutional and industrial building sectors. We are expanding operations at our St. John’s, NL office and are looking to fill the following full-time, permanent position:

Structural Engineer

Candidates should have experience in structural design for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings utilizing timber, masonry, steel and concrete materials. The candidate will be required to:

Prepare detailed design calculations and layouts;
Prepare project specifications;
Supervise and direct technical staff;
Provide Project Management duties to coordinate with other disciplines in planning and executing projects;
Develop material takeoffs and cost estimates;
Ensure all completed work conforms to contract requirements;
Conduct site visits and inspections;
Prepare studies and other reports.

Qualifications:

Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in Civil Engineering;
Registered or be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador;
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Structural Engineer;
Knowledge of relevant structural analysis and design software;
Familiar with NBCC and all material codes;
Demonstrate experience in the following areas: reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood and masonry design;
    Demonstrate good oral and written skills;
