As a result of a retirement, the City of Nanaimo is seeking a Senior Project Engineer. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Projects, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the management of large scale capital projects. With your extensive experience in project management, construction contract administration and civil engineering, you will provide leadership and expertise to the technical staff within the department. The Senior Project Engineer exercises considerable independent judgment and action with only major impact or policy being referred to the Manager of Engineering Projects.

You have a degree from a recognized University with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and you are a seasoned Project Engineer with a wealth of project management experience backed up with a history of successful delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects over 5 million dollars. You have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management including at least 3 years’ experience managing complex civil infrastructure projects. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s licence, a membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (P. Eng.), and obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset.
