The primary role of the Senior Estimator is to produce competitive, accurate bids in the procurement phase of large civil and industrial projects. Assist project personnel with development of additional project estimates as required. You should have experience in the development of detailed schedules and execution plans as it applies to the bidding phase.
Responsibilities:
Prepare presentable and accurate project bids and cost estimates
Conduct quantity take-offs for tender verification
Develop the planning & scheduling to ensure that bids are set on realistic goals
Attend pre-tender meetings and project site reviews
Review project bids with manager(s) prior to submittal of bid and ensure that final bid is tendered on time
Liaise with Project personnel as work progresses
Track progress of project, assist with additional pricing
Supervise preparation of all sub-contracts to ensure timely and accurate contract administration
Participate in “Project Hand-off” meeting with operations (includes distribution of approved drawings and specifications)
Have a complete understanding of relevant project specifications
Identify and initiate the ordering of unique project materials
Ensure each project has the proper contractual arrangement (i.e. indemnification agreement, purchase order)
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and/or minimum of 5 years estimating experience in civil construction (Mechanical experience an asset)
In-depth knowledge of estimating software preferably MEP
Computer proficiency, particularly, experience with MS Excel and other software
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
Strong Time Management skills
Valid Class 5 Drivers license
