Safety Coordinator – OSCO Construction Group – Halifax

The OSCO Construction Group consists of construction and manufacturing companies that fabricate both steel & precast concrete products, performs specialty construction services and is the largest suppliers of ready mix concrete in the Maritimes.  We presently have an 18-month contract term position for a Safety Coordinator for a construction project located in Halifax, NS, starting in the spring of 2015.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with various trades and subcontractors,  you will be responsible for:

• Ensuring safety compliance with federal, provincial & corporate regulations, policies and procedures;
• Accident prevention and emergency preparedness;
• Conducting incident investigations and recommending appropriate corrective action;
• Completing job safety analysis;
• Conducting safety orientations and training as required;
• Performing safety audits and workplace inspections;
• Attending safety meetings and effectively communicate safety information to the Project Manager and Site Superintendent.

Education & Experience Requirements:
• Experience in a safety position in the Industrial/Construction field with exposure to the Petroleum Industry is considered an asset;
• CRSP designation considered an asset;
• Strong knowledge of legislated requirements in various jurisdictions;
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills,  coupled with proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment;
• Excellent communication, management and leadership qualities working in a team environment;
• Strong computer skills using MS software programs required.
