The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced senior-level engineering technologist to join our Engineering Department. The Underground Services Division is responsible for management of the water, sewer and drainage utility networks, including system capacity planning, infrastructure design and construction of facilities to maintain services, GIS records management and surveying services. The successful candidate will perform civil engineering work as well as administration and supervisory duties in the Infrastructure Delivery Section. Provide in-house technical expertise at a semi-professional level related to municipal infrastructure for the purposes of planning, developing and implementing the underground capital program in accordance with District plans and objectives. Coordinates and directs section staff in all aspects related to their daily work and operations. Duties include: supervision, technical oversight, capital planning, coordination of capital works projects including scope definition and studies, design, construction, close out, financial tracking, and the management of projects within the framework developed by the Project Management Office. Familiarity with trenchless pipe rehabilitation techniques would be an asset.

Requirements for this position include a Diploma in Civil Engineering; a minimum of 8 years progressive related experience as well as one year of supervisory experience preferably in an unionized environment; registered as an engineering technologist with ASTT of BC; working knowledge of computer based engineering applications including AutoCAD, GIS, computer modelling and spreadsheets and a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license. PMP certification and knowledge of municipal approval processes and standards would be considered valued assets.
