Lacombe County has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced individual to take on the leadership role of the County’s construction division. As a senior member of the Operations management team, the Construction Foreman position provides front line management for the construction crew while being responsible for maintaining and reconstructing the County’s road system, gravel pits, drainage, and special projects.

A snapshot of what you will do:

This position is responsible for overseeing all construction projects which includes working with landowners to negotiate land agreements, coordinating the scheduling of the location/relocation of all utilities for each project, and managing the work of the construction crew. This position provides on-site supervision to the employees, establishes consistent performance standards and expectations, and ensures that work is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner. Strong communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with clarity, confidence, and open-mindedness is required. The individual will also have strong organizational skills so that construction projects can be prioritized and scheduled accordingly. Previous supervisory experience in road construction is a definite asset.

Able to review and understand project plans to determine the completion date and organize/schedule the crew accordingly to ensure efficient work progress and quality;
A hands-on person who enjoys working on site and is a proven effective leader with managing a large team through various phases of construction projects with safety as a key priority;
Able to be on-call for emergency situations;
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to keep accurate records and write reports;
Skillful in maintaining effective public relations with the general public;
Possession of a valid and acceptable class 5 operator’s license.
